Explorer of Sleat

The Sun Odyssey 439 reflects the latest design trend for Jeanneau with dynamic lines, a hard chine on the hull and lots of hatches and windows along with bevelled edges on the deck, all from the pen of Philippe Briand.

On deck the mainsail with Lazyjacks has single line reefing with sail controls lead back to Lewmar winches in the spacious cockpit. On the foredeck there is an electric windlass to power up or down the anchor and the 60 metres of chain. The extensive coach roof allows plenty of room for the dinghy to be stowed on deck fully inflated. Back in the cockpit the walk through transom allows for easy boarding and disembarking and al fresco dining is a delight at the generously proportioned cockpit table. The chart plotter is also located at the helm. The sail wardrobe consists of mainsail, roller furling genoa, and easy to use (but we hope you won’t have to) storm jib.

The navigation equipment is as you would expect for a boat of this size and quality with wind and log and fully integrated autohelm to carry you along if the crew ever tire of steering this lovely boat. Down below in the navigation area there is a VHF/DSC radio as well as all the charts and CCC pilot books and lots of other useful reading material about sailing in the area. Should the wind fail the powerful Yanmar 54HP engine will provide an alternative means of power and will also provide warm water for a relaxing shower. There are 12v chargers in every cabin. She also features an electric halyard winch, AIS transponder and solenoid gas switch.

The accommodation is very comfortable and is based in four cabins plus the saloon. For your comfort, there is warm air heating in all the cabins. In the forward section of the boat there is a double cabin and a two berth bunk cabin to port which both have access to the forward heads and shower compartment. In the spacious saloon there is a double berth conversion for the table. Two generous double aft cabins complete the sleeping accommodation with another large heads/shower compartment at the foot of the companionway. On the other side of the boat is the galley area with cooker, fridge and galley equipment for a full complement of ten people on board. A music system with USB/CD/MP3 Aux Input is available for entertainment on “Explorer of Sleat” and she has an entertainment hub so remember to bring the cables for your own devices to play your music.

Explorer of Sleat is a large, modern yacht that offers impressive sailing performance and delightfully comfortable accommodation which will appeal to all.

Over the winter of 2021/2 the saloon is being completely reupholstered for even more comfort.

For 2024 she has a brand new high-performance Genoa.

PS – the word ‘Sleat’ is pronounced ‘slate’ ! 😉
